Life cycle: The three pillars of successful building projects
Congress of the Construction Life Cycle Group The three pillars of successful building projects
On 3 November 2015, the Fifth Congress of the Construction Life Cycle Group, founded by DELTA and other initiators in 2012, took place with over 220 participants. “We need to change from a success-based culture to a performance-based culture, in which more attention is paid to team-oriented processes and procedures.” In his keynote speech at the Fifth Client Convention of the Construction Life Cycle Group, the former Olympic champion Toni Innauer, now trainer and sports manager, expressed his conviction that this applies just as much to business and the construction industry as it does to sport. In 2015 the Group defined culture, along with organisation ad processes, as the third pillar of successful building projects. Culture had been the Group’s main theme in 2015.
The new subject guides from the Construction Life Cycle Group
The subject guide entitled “Creating an Active Project Culture” along with a Code of Culture, supports clients in creating the appropriate cultural basis for their building projects. This guide was produced under the leadership of Wolfgang Kradischnig (DELTA) with the full support of the initiative Cultural Change in Building. The performance standards “Commissioning Manager” and “Commercial Client Representation” were also presented at the Convention.
Quality Campaign 2016: Life Cycle Award and e-learning platform
In 2016 the Group is starting a quality campaign to strengthen the awareness of the previously developed standards. For the first time, lighthouse projects will be eligible for a Life Cycle Award for the life cycle quality of their processes, culture and organisation in a scheme run in collaboration with the Vienna University of Technology and numerous partner organisations. An extensive e-learning platform, which will be starting in April 2016, will explain the models and performance standards produced by the Group.
